Saying sorry...

Parenting is no easy feat. Sometimes I am really at my wits' ends. I just don't understand why they can't just listen and stop all the fighting. Constant fighting is a common sight at home and I sometimes just wanted to ignore all those screaming and yelling. But I just have to admit that kids are kids. They can make you cry and laugh. After all, that's what parenthood is all about. Cane can be handy and effective at times. Sometimes it is difficult to discern who is right and who is wrong and I have no choice but to give both of them 'a good treat' each. Once, I took out the cane and beat both of them for hitting each other. "Say sorry to Gor Gor", I told Mei Mei. "Say sorry to Mei Mei", I told Gor Gor. After they apologise to each other, I told them to hug each other. Then I explained to them why I have to beat them. "Did you know why mummy beat you?", I asked them. Both of them nodded their heads. I was relieved that they are willing to admit their wrongs and 'learnt' from their mistakes, though I knew that they will definitely repeat the same mistake again. Then, out of the blue, Mei Mei pouted and cried. I asked her why she cried. "Mummy, you didn't say sorry to Mei Mei." She replied. "Why mummy have to say sorry to u?" I asked her, puzzled. "Because you beat Mei Mei too.".

Our National Pledge, 我们的信约

Aldric loves to recite the Singapore National Pledge (信约) in the Chinese version. I was told that everyone in the class has to recite the pledge every morning. He loves the pledge and would often recite it at home in his loud and clear voice. I am not sure if he truly understand the meaning of the pledge, but I can tell it that he really enjoys reciting. Mummy loves our National pledge too, but mummy still prefer to sing the Pledge. 新加坡信约 我们是新加坡公民, 誓愿不分种族、言语、宗教,团结一致, 建设公正平等的民主社会,并为实现国家之幸福, 繁荣与进步,共同努力。 Singapore's Pledge We, the citizens of Singapore, Pledge ourselves as one united people Regardless of race, language or religion To build a democratic society Based on justice and equality So as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation

Mean by Swift, Taylor

Mean by Swift, Taylor

You, with your words like knives and swords and weapons that you use against me
You have knocked me off my feet again got me feeling like I'm nothing
You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard, calling me out when I'm wounded
You, pickin' on the weaker man

Well, you can take me down with just one single blow
But you don't know what you don't know

Someday I'll be living in a big old city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?

You, with your switching sides and your walk-by lies and your humiliation
You, have pointed out my flaws again as if I don't already see them
I'll walk with my head down trying to block you out 'cause I'll never impress you
I just wanna feel okay again

I'll bet you got pushed around, somebody made you cold
But the cycle ends right now 'cause you can't lead me down that road
And you don't know what you don't know

Someday I'll be living in a big old city
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/t/taylor-swift-lyrics/mean-lyrics.html ]
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?

And I can see you years from now in a bar, talking over a football game
With that same big loud opinion but nobody's listening
Washed up and ranting about the same old bitter things
Drunk and grumbling on about how I can't sing

But all you are is mean
All you are is mean and a liar and pathetic and alone in life
And mean, and mean, and mean, and mean

But someday I'll be living in a big old city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean, yeah
Someday, I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?

Someday, I'll be, living in a big old city
(Why you gotta be so mean?)
And all you're ever gonna be is mean
(Why you gotta be so mean?)
Someday, I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
(Why you gotta be so mean?)
And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?
